Apparently US Open means retiring…

Upon this current 2012 US Open Tennis Champion the tennis world if not sports world knew Kim Clijsters would be retiring after her completion of the tournament, but should we have guessed today on Andy Roddick’s 30th Birthday would he call a press conference to announce his retirement. Now all of us Professsional Tennis fanatics have been watching his ranking slip for the the past 5-6 years upon Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic’s domination of the game.  Roddick’s recent health decline through injuries hasn’t gone un-noticed, but still.

As a huge fan of the sport, I have to admit (that’s if you haven’t watched the episode on Pro Tennis), that Andy has been my favorite player since the days of Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi.  As all the anaylists said immediately following his press conference, and as the sports world is a buzz, Andy Roddick has done so much for American tennis. You can go to AndyRoddick.com for his bio, his statistics and information about his foundation.  Perhaps check YouTube for highlights concerning Roddick’s EPIC serve!

Just as we have seen other past players stick around the Professional Tennis world as either members of the media or through outreach, Andy made it clear he has plans in these realms. Stunning and sad to see such a great man leave such a great game! Congrats, and glad to see you leave with a BANG!
