Today…TIGER WOODS became the first PGA golfer to host a Google + Hangout On-Air

The title can say it all, but let’s be real, this was EPIC for many reasons. First of all, this all started with posts on his Google + page, Facebook, and Twitter inviting fans to hangout through questions and the #TigerHangout hashtag. As you can imagine MANY (including me) jumped at the opportunity to be one of the lucky nine to be in the hangout.

Here’s where things get interesting, the Google + community rallied behind certain individuals who are diehard fans and golfers themselves.  Good news was that they chose correctly, BAD news is that they executed it poorly. Which left certain people really disappointed they couldn’t make it due a last minute time change, and fail to communicate with everybody chosen.

Another downside to this event was the questions chosen as well as the demographics represented in the Hangout were..well…EXPECTED.  This also happened in the hangout with President Barack Obama, and other “celebrities”.  As owner of this site, you should know by now that this site is dedicated to using Hangout On-Air technology to bring athletes and fans together via uncensored conversation.  Well, today’s hangout with Tiger Woods failed to realize that the connection can develop far beyond interview questions and fandom.

Feel free to watch the hangout from earlier!  How do you feel this impacted the Google + community specifically in sports?

FRENCH OPEN at Roland Garros has begun…

{EAV:aa59d3cf61723b14}

Yes, another Tennis Grand Slam tournament has begun, in fact this past Saturday.  For those out there oblivious to this tournament, it happens in Paris. France at Roland Garros.  It marks the ending of the clay court season in tennis, gearing up for the grass court season which leads up to Wimbledon.

As I have mentioned in previous blogs, and on posts here, US Men’s Tennis hasn’t shown up well since the days of Andre Agassi & Pete Sampras.  Knowing that, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Andy Roddick made an early exit in the first round to Nicolas Mahut in a 4 set match. Notable players to watch are Rafeal Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer.  However, do not count out Jo Wilfred Tsonga, Juan Carlos Ferrero, and US Player John Isner! Roland Garros

On the women’s side look out for Venus Williams, Victoria Azerenka, Jelena Jankovic to name a few.  I have a love for this sport to be honest. ;-)

Upcoming Schedule…

Wednesday May 30th at 9PM EST/8PM CST/ 6PM will be a episode on the Stanley Cup Finals (that’s right HOCKEY).

Wednesday June 6 time TBD will be an episode about FINSWIMMING!

Look out for another collaboration with Jason Salas and Plus Pals Debates about the Tech of Sports.

CURLING…

Yes, that EPIC sport from the Winter Olympics that has taken the United States by storm mainly because the USA Curling team has gained in skill set. I am sure other countries other than the US knew, and in fact appreciated the sport. However, it wasn’t till NBC decided to televise most failed to know existing sport, did people begin to pay attention. After talking to people over the years, I am convinced people think it’s “shuffleboard” on ice and more life size like. Conditionally, after watching hours of the coverage myself, I know this requires athletic prowess, and more mental toughness than previously imagined. The next time you are considering a winter sport to take up, put down those skis or snowboards, and pick up that Curling broom.

What is Cricket?

No, I am not talking about that wireless phone company.  It was a sport first.  Cricket is defined as a ball and bat game played with two team or 11 players. A European version of baseball so to speak. Cricket has been featured in many movies over the years as well. Anyway, competition is heating up right now between England and West Indies. Cricbuzz
